&Nbsp; I thank the residents of Beacon Heights for sacrificing their neighborhood for a week. I thank Bruce Gilbert, David Nunn and the rest of the city government for ensuring the project would happen without a hitch. I thank the local fire fighters for helping us raise money and washing the streets and the local police officers for providing security. I’d personally like to thank Ryan Cathey of Smart Properties and Chris Hilsman and Doug Tumlin of Pilot Builders for agreeing to build the home. I asked them to take a leap of faith and they delivered a beautiful and safe home for Anaiah. They each sacrificed time away from their families and jobs for more than a month to complete the project. Our “dream team” of cobra leaders – Al Hunnicutt, Cliff Woodman, Lee Samuels, Ryan Folk, Steven McCarty, Curt Hutchcroft, Sandy Malcolm, Butch Thompson, Ward Dickinson, David Bailey, Jim Reagin and Leon Peters – worked 18-hour shifts to oversee construction. Meeting those guys and becoming their friends – even though most of them laughed every time I picked up a hammer or saw – was the only reward I needed. Throughout the week, we were able to raise more than $100,000 to make sure Anaiah and her family will have a home for years to come. Drivin’ N’ Cryin’ helped us raise nearly $20,000 with a downtown concert. Orlando Magic star Dwight Howard – a true role model and all-around great guy – graciously donated $50,000 to Anaiah’s trust. I’ll never forget the first time I walked into Anaiah’s old house on North Main Street. We’d been asked to help the family move into a temporary rental house in March. The house had no heat or air conditioning. The ceiling in the girls’ bedroom had collapsed because of a leaking roof. (Arabi, Georgia, August 1, 2011) – Arthur P. Barry III, SIOR with Coldwell Banker Commercial Eberhardt & Barry, Inc. of Macon, Georgia, finalized the sale of the former Palm Harbor Homes facilities in Arabi, Georgia to Lime Creek Farms, LLC. These facilities were previously used as a modular home “frame and assembly” operation where Palm Harbor Homes manufactured thousands of units over 20 years.
Built in 1985, Palm Harbor Homes closed operations in 2009. The property contains several buildings totaling 126,445 square feet on a 21.78 acre campus.
The new owners, Lime Creek Farms, will incorporate this facility into their regional agricultural business. Lime Creek Farms, will employ approximately 50 persons from the Arabi, Georgia area. Operations will begin at the plant in August, 2011.
