Crashes
A 40-year-old Hanover Park allegedly drove a 1989 Chevrolet van into the rear-end of a 2008 Ford Fusion, propelling it into the rear of a 2004 Ford Taurus on the 11900 block of 159th Street. The man was arrested around 5:50 p.m. July 22 shortly after the crash occurred for driving on a DUI-related revoked license. Police also served him with a three-year-old DuPage County warrant for failing to appear in court for a hearing related to his license revocation. The other two drivers said they watched in their rear view mirrors as the van approached but couldn’t take evasive action. He remained in the Cook County Jail this Tuesday Aug. 2 afternoon in lieu of $100,000 bail.
DUI
A 20-year-old Homer Glen man was arrested July 24 for driving under the influence, improper stopping/standing in the roadway, not carrying his driver’s license and operating an uninsured motor vehicle during a 3:35 a.m. traffic stop on the 12400 block of 159th Street. He is scheduled to appear in Cook County court Aug. 10. Cook County Sheriff’s Police reportedly encountered the vehicle, removed the key from the ignition and called Orland Park Police.
A 19-year-old New Lenox female from the 800 block of Bristol Lane was arrested July 17 for driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs, speeding and possession of drug paraphernalia during a 1:20 a.m. traffic stop on the 16700 block of Summercrest Avenue. She is scheduled to appear in Cook County court Aug. 10. Police said she was driving 63 mph in a 45 mph zone prior to the stop.
Theft
A 50-year-old Homer Glen woman was arrested July 27 for allegedly stealing a 67-inch flat screen LCD television from a storage unit at Metro Self Storage, 11525 184th Place. She is scheduled to appear in Will County court Aug. 18. Police said the alleged incident stems from an ongoing family squabble.
Drug-Related
An 18-year-old Orland Park female from the 8600 block of 167th Street was arrested July 24 for possession of a controlled substance after police responding to a 6:35 p.m. call to her home found suspected heroin. Cook County court hearing information was unavailable. Police said the seized nine hypodermic syringes, 13 small plastic bags containing suspected-heroin residue and two small plastic bags containing small amounts of suspected heroin. The suspect said she was holding the contraband for a friend.

A former Oak Lawn police officer, Steven Harrison , pled guilty to one count of official misconduct and was sentenced to two years probation by Cook County Judge Nicholas Ford on Sept. 2, 2008 after he was accused with more than 30 criminal charges last year for allegedly extorting money from Hispanic and ethnic motorists in the Southwest suburban Chicago community. He was also charged with a felony possession of a controlled substance.
