I always thought that bears cruised around at night., but apparently not in Cragsmoor. July 23rd at 12:30 p.m. my AmyMarie began barking that hysterical bark that says, Bear!! I looked out the door to see what was wrong and a large, dark figure was hurrying past my car; the car I was just about to go out to. Now I know why dogs are so valuable to humans since the earliest time. I got my little girl back safely in the house and waited until I figured the bear had moved on. After about 20 minutes I cautiously went out to the car. No bear. But I took dog biscuits just in case. Do you think he knows how to sit and give his paw?The Ulster County SPCA now offers special low cost spay/neuter services for pitbulls and pitbull mixes through a targeted grant from Animal Farm Foundation of Bangall, NY. The fee to have a pitbull dog fixed has been reduced to $85.
"Our goal is to reach those who have been unable to afford this service, or were unaware of how important it is to get their dogs fixed," said Brian Shapiro, Executive Director of the UCSPCA.
"Animal Farm Foundation is pleased to partner with the UCSPCA to make these important services both affordable and accessible to the community and to celebrate 'pitbull' dogs" said Kim Wolf, Community Engagement Specialist for Animal Farm Foundation.

The UCSPCA is a private, nonprofit organization dedicated to preventing cruelty to animals in Ulster County. Donations may be sent to UCSPCA 20 Wiedy Rd. Kingston, NY 12401.
