Mathews, a former Army Green Beret who made the climb in 2007, spent a few nights at the Paradise Lodge mile-high altitude acclimatization and completed over a two day training for mountaineering.

Since we couldn't book at Princess Denali Lodge, our next choice was The Grande Denali Lodge which had an amazing top of the mountain view.  The rooms here are clean and simple.  I guess with the price you are paying is partly for the view.  It is about 3-5 mins at  10mph twisty ride to drive up the mountain to get to the lodge which was not fun.
