And The Beat Goes On At Old Settlers

"Coming Home" proved an apt theme for the 2011 Grand Old Settlers Parade held Thursday evening, August 18. There were the familiar elements - basically the same parade route, crowds six deep on both sides of the street, high school bands, children riding in convertibles attractive snazzy - to scroll through the veteran fans feel at home . At the same time, there were enough materials - more tanks church, new fire trucks, a new crop of players out, different faces of traditional floats - supporting the interests of those same fans parade veteran.As always, and as befits a city whose nation is involved in a protracted war, a color guard led the parade. This reflects the care of veterans who, fortunately, come home and the young soldiers, those who can still make overseas assignments. The six who came down first included Roger Myers, Bob Fuehne, Leighton Cline, Dale Walcher, Mike Meyers and Matt King. King Fuehne carried flags. Then came a jeep with a tailgate with an opening circle canvas upper turret. The riders included the Jeep Litchfield Will Tackaberry, who handed out miniature flags. Jeep posters adorning the Land of Lincoln 08 rented Honor Flights.Recruitment of the National Guard van appeared next. Sgt. First Class Thomas Reif led the Dodge, which was in camouflage desert Private Josh Hancock rode with him. Following the van of the National Guard Ford was the white veterans van Commission with displaying the Department of Veterans Affairs American symbol, a representation of American Eagle, the county outreach program of the ACC, and red, white, blue and interlacing. In the van was Dave Strowmatt, director of the local ACC; Dave Nimmons and Bill Cope. More than any other in the parade, the ACC recognizes the value of going home. Coming a long way to walkers of service in the parade was one of the United StatesArmy Recruiting trucks based in Indianapolis. Ford carried the climbing wall recruitment of the Capitol of Indiana to its location uptown celebration and was taken to the parade by the personnel recruiter Sgt. Jason Willard, who is based in Litchfield. The marchers, all soldiers were Hornbull William II, Andrew Harvill, Schardan Scott, Lee Scribner, Brian Nash, and Dylan Richards. The telephone numbers of recruiters - 1-800-USA-ARMY - and the website - goarmy.com were painting yellow / gold on the black vehicle.

I call the dealer when I find one that works for me and it turned out someone had already put $1K down for it. So I assumed it was already sold and decided to put new tires on my current truck and just be content. Spent a little over $1K on a brand new set of BFG 315's to go on my mickey thompson wheels. Get a call from the dealer and he says the deal fell through and its mine if I wanted it!! Aaaahhhhhh! I told him I just put on brand new tires....... he came up over $1K on my trade in to make the deal work. So we drove about 4 hours to St Louis to look at the new truck and here is how it went..... The truck was a one owner with a perfect car fax. The former owner was a construction conctractor and worked with a lot of union crews. Well he fired a crew and they held a grudge so...... ball peen hammers + former boss's truck = lots of damage. It looks like hail damage, but it's everywhere! I knew this story before I made the drive so I had a good idea of what I was getting myself into. Here is how it went: When I got the wheels for the truck, I picked up a front brush guard with a built in winch mount!!! I also got a full set of pocket style fender flares. Oh what a deal I got..... Anyways I did get the brush guard 90% mounted, just need to finish off the top mounts and its done. Meanwhile I am going to have a cold one and read a few threads here while I cool off Also, when I was running the wiring for the fog lights I needed to run a wire for the switch that was at least 5 amps. But I found out that the engine bay doesnt have quite the selection of fuses that my 01 had . The only fuses there was a set for the head lights. The inside compartment has the fuses located on the passenger side with pretty much no way of getting into it from the firewall. So I had to run the wire into the head light fuse and have to at least have my parking lamps on in order to turn on the fog lights. I guess thats okay but I would rather be able to turn on my Fogs whenever I want.
